DECEMBER 1934 TYPES
The Columbia Record, 10/17/1934: "To operate on the highways
of South Carolina during the months of November and December
motor trucks or semi-trailer trucks having a gross weight of
more than 20,000 pounds, including the load, must display a
special two-months license to be issued by the state highway
department. After December 31 such vehicles will be banned on
the highways of this state...under a law passed in 1933.
"The resulting situation has made necessary the
preparation of two additional types of plates by the highway
department. There will be a special two months plate for
trucks, which will bear white letters on a black background
and the legend "expires December 31, 1934." The common
carrier trucks, that is trucks engaged in public hauling, will
be required...to display a tag with maroon letters on a white
background with the legend "expires December 31, 1934."
